Mine was mostly good. I was surrounded by my family (mostly my kids)and my best friend who has always been there for me, and there were presents to open and yummy food to eat (I ate too much). There was some momentary unpleasantness with the kid's dad but it still turned out overwhelmingly positive.

How about everyone else???

Other than currently having difficulty reaching the keyboard from overeating (that line of crossing over into gluttony is mighty thin sometimes), had a great day here. Like Carla, hope everyone had and is still having a blessed day.

Larry,
Happy to hear you had a great Christmas. As for gluttony, close here but I contained myself fairly well. I have to brag .. I made beef tenderloin for Christmas dinner (found an incredible deal and it was what I wanted). This was the first time I have cooked it myself and MAN IT WAS GREAT! I cooked it on the grill (yeah in the rain here in Florida) and I must say I gave myself a pat on the back for that one.

My Christmas was amusing.... Woke up & picked up Blair from his dads. We came home and opened presents. Blair loved them. My bf attempted to make a special dinner. Black rice with fried tofu and green beans. I stared at it with such a horrified face for so long my bf couldn't help but crack up at me. We decided to see how much we could make Blair eat before admitting he didn't like it. He ate a few bites and his enthusiasm wained. He ate smaller and smaller bites as me and my bf hid our smiles. We finally broke down and told him we were going out. We went to TGI Fridays and had an amazing meal and went home stuffed. Blair played with his toys more and just went off to bed. All in all it was a nice day.

Thanks Carla, glad to see your day has been a good one. Why didn't I see beef tenderloins on the Christmas recipe post? Tenderloins, tamales and figgy pudding could start a new holiday tradition. Looks like you and I are about the only ones on Meredith is IMing with all her friends pictures of the clothes they got for Christmas (at least thats what they better be doing...) so Im just trying to see if I can break the one night posting record.
My congratulations on the success with the meal in spite of the rain and the fact you maintained self control where many of us failed.

Hey Larry,
Yeah I am up late waiting for a late plane in from Dallas. Looks like the rest of Christmas gift exchange will wait until tomorrow. My tenderloin didn't make it on the recipe list because I have never done it before now. It was so easy .. well it would have been easier if I didn't have to hold an umbrella. My sister bought she and I a cook book about grilling ... Oh my gosh this is the best cook book ever. It is called "How to Grill" by Steven Raichlen. I have been a wiz lately on the grill. I can cook up a storm in the kitchen but the grill has always been for hamburgers and BBQ chicken. Check it out! My sister even gave me my Birthday present tonight .. grill acessories..lol. Must run to the airport now. Have a great night.

Sera,
I am so glad you guys had a great day! Make those wonderful memories!

Happy Happy Happy (see "mountain" post)

My girl started with Christmas at mom's, then Christmas at our best friends(she gets gifts there too), then Christmas at dad's at about 10:30 pm when we finally got home. Whew!

To heck with gluttony. One thing about Christmas in the country with homegrown veggies and a giant dead bird. The pain is worth it. Big Grin

Christmas was pretty great, but the festivities started on the 23rd. I had my whole family over on Thursday for my son's birthday, and they all came back over on christmas eve, to gorge on a huge spread of not- so - good- for-you goodies, and to watch cheesy christmas movies. I love my family, and we had a ton of fun, but for the first time I understand why my mom used to dread being the hostess...I'm not volunteering my our house again, lol. then it was out to a comped dinner in our own private room (my cousin- in- laws brother is the restaurant manager) which was awesome, because we are a loud family, and more often than not, a bit crude, hehe. Then it was a mad dash to church for candle light service, which ended just after 11pm. Then it was a very short night sleep before it was up again for presents, and then a mad- dash to my aunts house for family present exchanging and another chance to gorge ourselves.

What was special about this year is that it was the first time EVER that all of the family was gathered together in the same place for Christmas, and the first time we had all been in the same church at the same time since my cousin's funeral. Everyone got along, at least on the surface, and it really felt wonderful. Smiler

Addendum to my above cheerful account of Christmas:

Last night when I went into my upstairs bathroom, I smelled something kinda smokey. I traced it to the heating grate and ran downstairs to the basement to check on the furnace. Nothing. Furnace did not smell funny or appear to be operating oddly. I go back upstairs and the smokey smell in the grates is still coming through. We did a thorough search and found that it was worse upstairs than downstairs. I figured something got tossed in the upstairs grate and went to bed. But during the night, the smell apparently got worse and the kid turned off the heat. I woke up and it was 59 degrees. Turned on the heat and it is the same thing again.

Ok...now I need prayers from all you single parents that know the impossibility of paying a heating company to come out here. I have $100 in cash (thank you Mom) and a leftover ham to my name. WHAT IF SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH MY FURNACE???

Deep breath. Any ideas?????????

Sarah

I had a very good Christmas. Had santa stuff at my house then went to my mom's for the big bang. Instead of doing all the cooking this year we bought most of the food from a local woman that loves to cook. Much easier I must say.
Good luck with the heating Sarah!! I hope it isn't anything bad!
