Hi Momma Bear and welcome to SFV. Usually it doesn't take long. I assume you haven't received any support payments then? Being on the other end I can't say for sure where in the process the custodial receives any documents much less the file number but maybe I can give you an idea of how it works for the payor.

First a court order is drawn. The parties should all receive a copy. The FRO then sends a copy of the order to the employer, whom will/ should be derived from court documents. If there is no employer or the payor is self-employed, the process is longer for sure. The employer will receive the document and treat it as a court order. (i.e. they will obey it under penalty of law) The employer then works a formula for equal deductions based on either a 52 week year or a 12 month year, length of pay period, etc. Then the payroll department will begin to take deductions. At the end of the month, the deductions collected will be forwarded to FRO. FRO then disperses the deductions to the custodial. The first payment may be short due to the deductions starting in midmonth. After that they should be regular and full.

As you can see, the process can be long sometimes but all arrears will be collected quickly. I've had deductions doubled on occassion because payroll didn't deduct from me when on holidays with holiday pay. I had that fixed.

Here's something with more to offer;

Hope I helped.

Did you complete the FRO package and submit it with the support order?

Definately call the FRO number. My case took about 8 weeks I think.

Good luck

No problem.

Let me know if you don't get it soon.

I had a hard time filling it out but it really isn't hard.
You do need a ton of information and stuff.

Feel free to message me. I may have blank copies in my files from this time last year, the forms may have changed but you would have an idea of what they ask of you.

Oh and it took another 6-8 weeks at least before they started sending him notices if I recall correctly.

Good Luck. I hope it goes smoothly for you.

Hiya Harmony and Jaydsdad..
Thank you so much for your help. I finally got my case number and the papers to fill out for FRO. I'm doing them right now and I also know now that it's only a matter of time until my financial load will finally lighten a little. What a feeling!!! I really appreciate you taking the time to point me in the right direction to help me through this...it was more just needing to know if I was doing everything I could to get this happening and make the whole situation not seem so overwhelming and make me feel helpless. Hugzzzzz

I forgot to mention write something in each section. Even if you do not have that answer available.
Blank answers will be delayed in processing for follow up.
If you don't have a particular answer just write in something like (unknown at this time) or whatever is appropriate.
