Does anyone know how long it usually takes to start getting your first support payment? I know for a fact that the first garnish was taken on 05/19/06. Since that, two more garnishes were taken. I'm supposed to have the money wired into my account as soon as it's received. I've been checking online everyday, and I called this morning. They told me that maybe the employer doesn't send out the checks every week, some do it bi-weekly, some do it monthly, which would really stink. I did call her dad to ask him to talk to his payroll dept and find out how they do it. This is one of the reasons I didn't want to file for a garnish, I knew I'd have a waiting period. I just didn't know it would be this long. Is this normal?

Hey there Pooker
Here the employer does have the option of submitting it once a month. and then it can take 5 to 8 business days to be actually deposited. Crummy for sure.

Hey Harmony, thanks for getting back to me. I decided to talk to our payroll manager here, and he told me that it depended on when you paid the employee, as to when you send it. If you pay them weekly, it has to go out weekly, bi-weekly, etc. Plus, he told me that technically, it was supposed to go out the same day the employee was paid. So, if it doesn't come through tonight, I'm taking a walk over to Social Services on my lunch hour. They're conveniently right accross the street from where I work.
