I have been fighting for support for eight years. My son father just won't pay, I went to court recently and as always he did'nt show up. So of course they put a warrant out for his arrest. I am going through some hard-ships right now and can really us the money. The judge stated that I can go to the sheriff department and have them pick him up at his house. I don't want to do it that way because he has other children and they live with him. Then I heard that even if I do go to the sheriff department it may take a few months before they actually try pick him up. Does anyone known any things about child support warrants.

It really depends on the location but most times, they won't just go pick him up on a warrant like that. You could call and ask the local sherriff's office in your area to see how they'd handle it. Things vary so much from state to state, and even county to county.
I know here in my county, IF they ran into you say during a traffic stop they would only get you to sign a promise to appear and let you go, I kid you not. They will not actually arrest someone here on such a warrant even if they stumbled onto them, much less go looking for them. But then again, this county also does not hold back all other avenues of forcing compliance for unpaid child support.
Another county I know of here in Calif. will make an arrest, and hold that person in custody for a court date.
Your only real sure answer would be to ask your local Sherriff's how they handle it there.

Hey jayssmom, welcome to SFV. Don is right you need to check with your local county that you live in. I know here in Texas they will only arrest if they get pulled over or if they try to renew their drivers liscense. I can call the local authorities and tell them my ex is home right now and give them the address of where he is...he has a warrant as well. But they will not go out!! Which really bites.

Good luck with it.

Whatever u do hon, don't give up. I'll be darned if I give up. Even if I have to buddy up to him to get info I want to use it against him.

They did a search on my son father ss# and. It is not showing any employment. When I called and spoke to my case worker at child support. She stated it's really nothing they can do. Unless his ss# is showing employment and that my case won't go back to court for another year or so. I am not going to give up, I am going to a outside agency for help collecting my support. I decided not to call the sheriff department. Because they will catch with he eventually.

I posted somewhere here in CS forum about beware of private collection agencies. It might be a good idea if you read it for your own protection.
Since they issued a warrant for his arrest did the judge set a bond? If so that money should come to you as a pmt towards the arrears.
My db has been arrested 4 times. The sheriffs dept does not go out looking to arrest them, they hope that he will be pulled over and see there is a warrant for his arrest and then lock him up until he post bond. When there was a warrant issued for my deadbeat I called the sheriffs dept. and talked to the Warrant Department told them what was going on and ask them to help me. I also asked for their fax number and faxed them information on the db - where he lived what time he left for work, what time he came home, bars he went to, description of his vehicle, friends etc. and even a picture. The first time a warrant was issued it took 6 months to get him picked up = each time it took less time. Again this worked for me, you have to make you own choices.
Don't give up - stay strong - study the child support laws in your state. If you need them let me know what state you are in and I will send them to you.

I am having the same issues ! My kids dad didnt show up for court but they couldnt issue a warrant because he was not served the summons personally his mother signed for it . . It sucks but hey what can you do ?? He is working and I gave all that info to Child support well come to find out the employer sent papers back to C/S stating that he has never worked for their compnay ! LIARS ! ! The only thing that I can figure out is that he is working under another social but there is nothing else that I can do . . . . it sucks so i am going to file for FULL custody on Friday and my attorney is going to do what ever possible to get him caught . .
