I am a 26 yr old that is expecting her first child at the end of May. I have been going through all of my pregnancy by myself and the
father, a 25 yr old, is not wanting to be a part of my life. We were together, but when we found out we were pregnant, he wanted me to have
an abortion... I said no. I need advice on the procedure (when and how) on obtaining child support. If you know of any information on where to begin, please advise! Your time and response is appreciated!

I think first you have to prove paternity and where he wanted you to have an abortion I'd say get it tested. From there you can move onto child support....

Thanks for your reply. He said he knows he will have to pay child support, but because he has been a bit flaky at times, I want to make sure he goes through with it. I am not sure the process of the paper work (and when to start) and going through a mediator or the court...

Find your local child support office, typically a subdivision of the district attorney's office. They will handle a lot of it for you.
