So rarely does this topic have a postive thread but I am here sharing something positive that happened to me today. Since I left my ex over 3 years ago, I stated to everyone that this man would never hand me a child support check. Since I had such a hard battle in court for 2 years to get anything and last year after our divorce settlement my attorney made him pay all his back CS a year of support in advance from the $ we made selling our house out of his share (which he made a huge stink about). So the court order stated that he would have to start paying May 1st of this year. He said he would pay on his own but I had a hard time believing him since he has his wages garnished for his other child support obligation to another child he has.
I know this topic always brings alot of venting of negative aspects on deadbeat parents who avoid paying thier child support but today my ex gave me a check for half of this months support and said he will have another check for me on the 18th. I have to say that I was wrong and honestly thought this day would never happen. Maybe he learned something in the last 3 years. I wanted to write a positive thread to this topic and I know that there are alot of single parents out there struggling to make ends meet and getting no help from the other parent(I know was one of them). I wanted to just share my experience of struggle and I feel that maybe my situation is starting to turn a corner. I have been nothing but nice, and accomidating to my ex when it comes to my son so maybe killing him with kindness worked! I know it sounds weird, since this is something he is suppose to be doing without question but I am just so thankful.
Thanks everyone for listening to me babble on but I think Im still in shock! Smiler

Mine cleared! I even asked him if I needed to hold it for any amount of time, but he assured me it would clear. We spoke this morning about other issues and I am stunned at how well we get along now when it comes to my son. He knew I was uncomfortable with his girlfriend (she is 22) watching my son when its his weekend because sometimes he participates in all day fishing tournaments (2hours away) but I was also going out of town and he offered me to come up with another plan, so I said my parents could watch him and he could pick him up Sat. night instead and he was totally fine with it and understood my concerns. I can honestly say for now I am feeling more at ease with our situation. I understand PJ's skepticism. I thought the same thing immediatley. I think I will still always be cautious but at least things are moving in a better direction!
Mashell thats awesome for you too! Lets hope it continues!
Happy weekend everyone! Smiler

Yay....Metallica

and yes definitely sad but true. Those are the kind of checks I'd go to their bank to cash, instead of depositing into mine and hoping I don't get a bounced check notice Eeker
