It has been a while since I have posted, and i was wondering if the gentleman that works in enforcement in California still watches this thread? My ex is moving from Florida where our child support order is to California. He is not sure if he is going to be working as he is moving in with family again to "go back to school." When he is not getting his child support directly deducted he doesn't pay it all. I wanted to know if anyone had experience with cross-state enforcement. He is $5000 in arrears, and I plan on enforcing that once he quits paying.

I haven't seen Ronn posting in a while Confused

I've been on the other end of cross state enforcement, paying support for my middle daughter. For me it was living here in Cali and paying to Washington where they moved to, so not sure that's really the same. Since they moved there that is where the new court orders for wage assignment came from, though self employed it was still me that wrote the checks Smiler

Anyway, was there a specific question you were after. I could even try to send him a PM to see if he responds if there's something he might be able to answer.

I appreciate the responses. I guess my basic question is if he fails to pay child support how is it enforced. Do I contact my state enforcement that contacts his state? I just want to know how it works because I will be shocked if he pays with out a garnishment like is currently in place.

You will need to contact the state that you've been living in. They will be in charge of the enforcement of the order. And they do have a lot of tricks up their sleeve for enforcing it.

They like to take away driver's liscience is about their favorite. Believe me, they have ways of sucking blood out of a rock, if you can get a hold of them. My ex has never seen his son. But they have his medical liscience over a barrell, and he pays thru the nose. Nothing to put those medical credentials in jepordy.

I live in Texas, and my ex has moved to Florida. They drag him back here to Texas for every court date! It takes a while though. Typically any motion of the court takes 1-2 years.

I'm still alive.....just busy enforcing child support orders!

Here's how it works: you request enforcement services from the county enforcement agency where you live. They, in turn, request enforcement assistance from the county agency where the NCP lives. They will then issue an administrative wage assignment (hearing not reuired), provided they locate his employer on the locate system and/or you tell them where he works.

It's really a circus working with any government enforcement agency, let alone having them work with another government enforcement agency, but that's how it works.

I have been away for a few months, and just caught this. My ex did move back to California, and I did file contempt of court papers with the county our decree was ordered in. When you say talk to the state, are you talking about child support enforcement instead of going through the court that ordered the support? In that case I am lucky. The child support enforcement office is located in the parking lot where I work. I will contact California tomorrow to see if I can get any leeway there.

HELP!!!!!!!!

Okay, I am new here and think this might be the place to get advice.

My child's father use to live in Kansas, we live in North Carolina. Well, two years ago I asked for increase. It took them a year to find him. Well, in October, a new Order was handed down for him to pay an additional $400 (don't faint he was only paying 100 a month because they had a hard time keeping up with him). Anyway, there has yet to be a month where he has paid the new amount. KS informed NC that he has moved to MO and KS will no longer be handling the case. That was this pass March (not sure how long they knew he had moved.) Well, this week KS has informed NC that they are going to keep the Order AND that I have to comply with his request for a decrease!

My question, can KS legally keep the Order? What are my child's rights? What are some resources that could help me? I haven't received a check in about 6 months. I am at my wit's end! Bad Day
