OK,I have a possible address to his mom's house with phone number. I have a home address and a tax ID#, I have info on the value of his home property, I have a valid SSN(but I don't know if it actually belongs to him, I also have checked public records for and found traffic violations (for which I have copies). Are there any free websites that will let me know if a SSN belongs to a certain person? It seems as if I am doing all of the leg work while the case worker sits back and just takes my info. The dedbeat Dad is military (army, reserve 97th/99th ARCOM), and seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. I don't know who his commander is and I am trying to gather as much info as possible to bring to my case worker. Does anyone know how to get a DMV record or licsense plate number with just a ssn#? Can anyone refer me to any of the free webstites that can help in finding out this information? Any thoughts as to what I should do next?

I'd second that. I'm Canadian though so I'm not sure if the system will differ. I did a bit of research too and couldn't find anything free regarding access to SIN numbers.

People here have recommended to get in touch with Equifax credit beaureux. They would have his personal information on record, apparently. I tried to call them myself but I couldn't find a direct person to speak with. The numbers I came up with were all automated. So, if you find any please let me know.

By the way, have you applied for a search to be done through your Family Law court house? Bring in all of the documentations that you've got.
Good luck.

The child support office is required to try to locate a NCP if you don't have a "for sure" address. They can use his tax ID# to find him. He has to use that to work, military or not. I'm not sure about the SS#. I would call the SS office here in VA and let them know that you just want to check the name on it. Or call the office of Vital Records and Statistics. Do you know the state he was born in? If so, check for that state's Vital Records office and see if they can get you a copy of anything.

I live in VA currently, where in the state are you?? Some of the caseworkers here are slackers. You may have to stay on her case, and if you feel she's insufficient, ask for another. Ask to speak to her supervisor. Management. Let them know that you have provided her with all this info and she still is doing nothing to your knowledge. Also request that they keep you abreast on what they find out. Also... (I know this is long, but I'm almost done) VA has an automatic wage garnishment law. One they find him, and establish a support obligation, his employer is required by law to deduct it from his check. If there is a period of time that he's not working, or did not get paid, then it is HIS responsibility to send the money to DCSE. (Did you file through the court or through DCSE?) If the employer garnishes and doesn't send the money, you can file a motion to show cause against the employer, in which case they may lose their business license. And if he switches jobs and doesn't pay, you can file one against him for not keeping a job and paying it.

I'm done now, I hope I helped. Good luck and keep us posted!!

Is there a Court Order with a sum certain for child support?

When did you provide all the information to your caseworker?

he is in the military, that is easy. if you have a court order for him to pay, all you have to do it call his base commander on his military base and talk to him. it should not be hard to get ahold of that phone number or address. if you do, i would go down to the local recruiter's office and ask them for the base number and address. they should give it to you.

Thanks to all who replied. I live in the Hampton Roads area of VA. My caseworker said that the next court date will be for paternity. Does anyone know what will happen with that? What happens if he doesn't show up, since he hasn't shown up for the last two dates? The caseworker said that the judge could have him picked up by the police if he is still in the state. Does anyone know?

It should be for him to either stipulate to paternity (admit on paper that he's the father) or schedule to have a paternity test done. If he misses it it's possible for them to place a bench warrant for his arrest for his failure to appear. Which honestly could end up just a warrant in the system should he ever get checked out for anything else by the police. At least here they really don't bother with bench warrants until they just happen to run into the person for something else such as a traffic ticket or something.

Your caseworker should also be able to give you much more details considering he/she is more familiar with how they typically handle it in that local area. Things often vary depending on where you live.
