That douchebag took me to court in october, and I got our new child support order in the mail..

He quit his job, went on welfare, then applied to the MN family investment program. MFIP is paying for him to go to school.

So, appearantly, since he is going to school, he is "making a good faith effort to improve his living situation". And doesn't have to pay child support anymore. The fatass magistrate set the new amout to $0.00..

A big fat ZERO... But at least he can pay that.. Butthead...

But the sucky part is, that the amount is set for an indefinate amount of time. As long as he is enrolled in some kind of school, he's set. He can take "underwater basket weaving 101" and it counts towards that "good faith" crap..

Geez what a load of....bologna. Sorry to hear he found a loophole, and hope that you can make do without. I just don't get how a judge could allow that nonsense....and how the heck does he qualify for welfare?

Well, as a best case scenario, he could end up doing well in school and getting a better job. After that the CS would go way up...in the long run, this would be best for everyone.

Of course, your ex might be unable to unwilling to do well in school and get a better job. In that case...well...at least you know that he truly hurt himself more than anyone else. It so baffles me, people that are willing to let their own lives go down the toilet to avoid paying a little to someone else...

Still...the most constructive thing to hope for is the best case scenario.

yup, its amazing - my ex had a great job (at the time) and quit right before they calculated the child support.

a friend of mines wife left him and rented an apartment way above her means along with jacking up some serious bills in hopes that the court would dig into him for more child support (they did not make him pay nearly as much as she had hoped) - of course the kids are with him way more than half the time anyway and he still pays support

hopefully, years down the road when there are flying cars, self buttering popcorn and remoteless remote televisions .... parents will be financially, physically and emotionally supportive of their children

Love all, trust a few, do harm to none.

How in the world he get away with that. I thought that is someone knowly quit there job they still have to pay. That sounds messed I would'nt let that ride. I can see if he was laid off or fired though no fault of his own. But to quit his job to go to school, you can go to school and work. Should of had a judge like judge judy.lol
