Couldn't I just say that he's not the father and not have him sign any papers or anything for child support and than he'll be out even if he wants to be a part of the child that he abandoned's life? I just don't understand how if the father isn't here for the pregnancy with support infact hurting and emotional abusing me in my pregnant state can get joint custody just because he wants it. If he wanted this child he could have been here to help me during the pregnancy right? I just want him out of the picture, he's not going to be a good infulance and neither is his new girl friend that has DWIs. Can't I just write him off and take full responsibility?

I believe, at least here in MN, the biological father can go to court at any time, prove paternity, and get whatever the court says he gets regarding visitation unless he signs away his parental rights. If he signs them away, then yeah - he's out of the picture. I'd hope the courts would at least take into account the past history of the person, and see how much he hasn't cared or wasn't involved or is a bad influence before they'd decide to let the child spend time with him. I've never been to court regarding that, so I'm not sure how a court makes it's ruling.
