I am New to SFV |
Hello, I know this forum is for parents only but I have a reason. I'm 14 years old and my mom is 50. She recently got divorced (2 years ago) and we have been struggling since. She is an amazing gardener and she has been doing that as a job. Recently though her hand has hurting tremendously and she is unable to work as much as she used to. She usually cries at least every other night about bills, divorce, relationships etc. We are heavily in debt and she has no idea how to get out of it. Does anyone know of ANYTHING we can do? Career opportunities? Methods to resolve debt issues? Anything that could help us in anyway would be very much appreciated!

"Parent on Board" Forum Board? No- KeyBoard! |
Does she have any other skill besides gardening? Oh, she could work at a nursery, a lot of gardening there but maybe lighter work.
Also, it sounds like she needs to get her hand checked, it could be a few things, arthritis at worse, but they have some meds out there for that now a days. Never take someone for granted. Hold every person close to your heart because you might wake up one day and realize that you've lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones... |

At A loss for Words - NOT! |
Wow, for a 14 year old you sound really grown up.
Carrying the burden of your mom's troubles really isn't the thing to do. The best thing you can do for her, is to tell her how much you love her, work really hard in school to keep your grades up, as that will make her proud. I am confident she will find the help she needs in due time such as other employment, counselling, and help with her hands. It is important for you to have faith in her and not to worry too much. What the mind can conceive, she will achieve! She has to believe that, and so do you. MM Writing a guide for personal change, fullment and discovery for children with dead beat parents. If you as a parent, or the child have a story to share, would love to include it. |

"Who me......?" At A loss for Words - NOT! |
I'm sorry you're having to go through this. You sound like a caring loving son and she is so greatful to have you.
Make an appointment with your school counselor and explain your situation. She/he has resources for you and your mother to use in your area. Do this immediately. there are some programs you immediately qualify for academic and economic. Keep your chin up and know you're an amazing son who is learning first hand how to take charge and resolve your family's issues.....what a great husband you would make in the future. |
