At A loss for Words - NOT!

Can someone please explain to me why our soldiers who die for our Country do not get the same respest that a Public Official does when he/she dies by flying the Flag at half mast. Our community is burying a young soldier this morning who died while serving our country in Iraq. I called the Board of Supervisors to see if we (the County Government) would be flying the flag at half mast and they sent me this link, http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/ and was told to look under the "flag rules" section......I just don't understand...can someone please explain to me???

If you would like to pay respect to this fine young man his obituary can be found at,
www.owensmortuary.com click on the name Damien M Montoya.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Mashell, I read the code too. It states when the flag shall be flown half-staff, not when it shall not. I believe that is discretionary; maybe the town where the soldier was lived is doing it?

This is the town where he lived....(the county complex is annexed into the city). I did not notice this morning on my way to work, I will check it out on my lunch break (if flags are lowered in town).
