My husband and are going through a funk right now. We are working out some issues and leaning towards separation. We are cordial about it, we both know our issues. We have a three year old son also. We agreed that when I move out that we'll still do things occasionally as a family together, but would this just confuse our son?
I'm also unsure of my feelings for my husband. Half of me wants this separation and half is very scared. I'm not sure if it's just the being single part that bothers me, or missing him.

I think as long as you are working together and open and honest (in a 3yr old way) with your son that together time can only be a good thing. What a nice sense of security during a rough time that will give him knowing you are still his dad's friend and vice versa. Keep talking it out with your hubby, the nice thing is you are cordial and seems like you have a good line of open communication. No matter what happens, your son is a lucky little guy!

Hi Jen

I'm new to this site, please bear with me as I find my way around.

You and I are in the same boat, but my main concern is my son and how this will affect him. I'm scared and unsure about what the future will bring.

I've been in an unhappy marriage for sometime now. I keep telling myself I should wait until my son is older. I tell myself that being a single parent is nothing but hardship.

I look forward to the separation as life is too short to be in an unhappy marriage, but I don't want to ruin my son in the process. How can I make this a win win situation??

I don't know if this is helpful to you, but I can relate.
