Hi,
I am a single father of a 3 1/2 year old little boy. I have been raising him alone since he was 15 months old. I have full custody with no child support. In the recent months I have been finacialy drained where it is a struggle every month to keep a roof over are heads. I have searched and searched for some relief groups here in Atlanta Ga, for help but have found none for fathers. I know the Lord had a answer and will provide. If anyone here knows of anything please reply all advice will be taken with gratitude and humbley. Thanks agian and God Bless Drew |

You gave me advice with my situation;"confused and scared".. and well i want to say i am here to help ya in anyway i can. I understand living trying to raise a child can be difficult. Plus to top it off alone and just gettin by. So all the mutual uplifiting support i can offer is here for the taking. There are certain aid groups that donate to fmailies in need. I am not sure about atlanta gerogia but in michigan everything for a single parent is avalible. So i suggest any low income houseing.. second jobs.. goverment assistance.. ANything i can help ya find just give me a ring..

I have to agree, there are always low income programs that can help, they are all about helping single parents. I went from paying $650 a month in rent to only $50 when I moved into an apartment on the HUD program. My son and I also get food stamps. It is really nice because you can ususally make a decent amount of money and still receive them as long as you are a single parent. They are not much, but every little bit helps. Also if your child is under 5 years old you can always get on the WIC program. It is called women, infants, and children, but after the child is born, the program is all about the kids. They give you your staples like milk and eggs every month. If there is anything that I can do to help please let me know. I might be able to help you find phone numbers for programs in your area, I have moved a few times and figured out the tricks. Good luck with everything and remember that you are not alone.

Hi there Drew, I read about your situation and I too live in the atl. area and am running into dead ends everywhere, but I have just began. I have not even had my child yet I am 20 in though so half way there. I will be raising this child alone and already the doctor bills are rolling in. I will make it though, I just wanted you to know that you have support here. Good Luck! You only live life once, if you live right once is enough! |

MD, just read your post and would like to know are there any Medical programs in your area? You mentioned medical bills, do you have Medicaid or Medi-Cal in your state? I couldn't imagine not having any of that assitant when I didn't have my health insurance on the job. Try looking into those programs. The less stress you have carrying the baby, the better. Good Luck to you... |

Hi there I have looked into those programs I was told that I did not qualify, I would have to be in what is considered poverty. I make too much $ and I own my own house. Well what I make goes to my house and car, and insurance that I pay for out of pocket not through my job. But I still do not qualify it is rediculous, if I do not have a job or a house I would qualify. Any other advice? |

I just want to say I think you are a great person for raising your son alone as a single father. I have one question though. Why dont you take the mother to court for support? Like I tell my sons father, if you dont want to be involved that is fine, but you will support OUR son, b/c it is not fare for a child to have to live without as much as he/she can have just b/c one parent wants to be selfish. And if I am way off base with the support money, sorry. I live in nashville, and I know there are a lot of support groups and as you said they expect you to be eating out of the trash before they help you, but they will give money to other people for other **** hole things. What about church groups though. My cousin in indiana gets sooo much help from her church support group. The give her full course meals and presants galure on holidays, as well as pay for rent when needed among other things. I would check it out. Good luck sweetie. |
