I need some advise, I am the single mother of a 4 year old and I am having trouble being a mom. I want to be a person and resent my son sometimes, especially since I just wanted to start dating again. No father in the picture at all, any one have any advise at all?

DEPRESSED SINGLE MOM,
I HOPE YOU ARE FEELING BETTER. I AM A SINGLE ,NOT DATING, MOM OF A 7 YEAR OLD. I TO CAN GET SAD BUT REMEMBER YOUR CHILD DID NOT ASK FOR HIS CIRCUMSTANCE AND THERE WILL BE A TIME FOR EVERYTHING. IT MAY NOT BE AT THE SAME TIME, BUT EVERTHING IS ONLY FOR A SEASON. GOD IS IN CONTROL AND IS ALWAYS THERE WHEN I NEED HIM. KEEP LOOKING UP... Smiler

Scotsms, it's been a while since you posted this but I hope you're doing better. For what it's worth, here are some things that help me -

1. Take it 24 hours at a time

2. Enjoy all the time you have with your child because it goes fast; if you don't already, find activities the two of you can do together.

3. Finally, this is a personal choice but I've sworn off dating for now. It's rough out there and I found that it was taking too much of my time and energy with very little reward (the guys I met paid lip service about me putting my child first).

I'm already working full time so I get all of my "me" time at work; but I'm also lucky enough to have a rewarding job.

Anyway, I hope this helps... hope things work out for you.

I to can sympathise but, whatever you do, DON'T GIVE UP & LET YOUR DEPRESSION TAKE OVER! Try to find little ways here and there to be your own person. It is important for you to have an outlet when you are feeling down. I am here to talk to if you want. Take care. Smiler

You are not alone in your feelings. I think alot of single parents feel the way you do but you have to make the best out of it. How I look at it, it's only temporary. Children do grow up and oneday you will get your freedom back and your happiness too. So don't give up. Many are in your shoes. I AM!
