Getting My Feet (Board) Wet
Posted
Well, I am sort of making my away around the board today so I figured, heck I am 34 (almost 35 shhh going on 21) the divorced mom of two boys ages 6 (Cameron) and 3.5 (Chase). School just started so we have been pretty busy and my ex basically failed in life a few weeks ago, so I am working on getting sole custody right now. I revoked his visitation myself on the 8th of this month. He didn't have a leg to stand on as far as fighting me.

Just a bit of background I suppose...
My ex and I met in college (he was 23 I was 21) and we started dating. At the time since we were at school I didn't notice he had a drinking problem because basically...who doesn't drink in college. Well it was never a huge deal but as time went on it caused issues here and there. I would consider him a binge drinker. he would go three years sober then crash and burn. Well we were together for 7 years before we got married. We had a good friendship, a great realtionship really. Well after he preposed, we found out we were pregnant with Cameron. Things were great...we did a civil union. There were issues that cropped up but again, we always managed to get back on our feet. Then we had Chase...still things ok.

Well then the issues started being more frequent. He had drinking issues where he lost his job, he gambled online, we were in debt and not moving forward, he was making BAD choices across the board and I finally had to really look at how I wanted my life and my son's life to be.

I decided to leave him and we had a good divorce actually. It was amicable and we both knew our boys were most important. I even was letting my ex stay at my place on weekends to visit (he was renting a room and didn't have space for them to visit).

Well bottom line:
He started drinking again, got evicted, lost his job, became homeless, lost his CAR he was living out.

I also found out from my ex MIL that the weekend of the 8th he had the boys at a family party and he drank while he was caring for them. He threw up all over his aunt's place. At that point I knew I had to make some changes. so I did for my boys...

So that is a LOT about me lol.

I also suffer from Rheumatiod Arthritis. I was diagnosed at 24 and I take a ton of medication, but try to stay well rested and fit for the boys. I do have limits though and Cameron my oldest is good about helping me and I have a good friend network and they all help me out as well.

So now that I have purged all this info on you all..I look forward to getting to know you allSmiler
