Thought I'd introduce myself here since I'm definitely a 30-something single mom. I'm actually 38 and have a 14-month-old daughter. I'm not single by choice, but it's probably for the best. My husband told me last June that he wasn't happy, had been cheating on me, etc. After kicking him out for a few days, I allowed him to come home when he said he made a mistake, that I was the one he wanted, yada, yada, yada. We tried counseling for a couple of months; he went on his own for a few weeks as well. Things were good during the summer and then started going downhill and by Oct he told me he wanted to save $$ to move out on his own. He wanted to find his "independence" and his "own path". Problem was, he had no job. So yea, he was mooching off me while telling me that basically he didn't want to be with me anymore. The climax came on Dec. 2 when I finally had enough and was feeling resentful because I was the only one who seemed to care about our marriage. I kicked him out, only to find out a week later, that he'd met someone online a month earlier, had been cheating on me yet again, and thinks she is "the one".

It's been hard giving up the dreams, giving up the hope (I mean, geez ... we just renewed our wedding vows last May!) that things could work out. But he's been telling me he wants a divorce.

So here I am .... now a single mom.

hmm, sounds like he has the "grass is greener" syndrom, and if he is not going to work I am not sure you want that anyway.

Welcome

Never take someone for granted. Hold every person close to your heart because you might wake up one day and realize that you've lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones...

Welcome aboard....
As to your post....tell him good riddance, then file for child support even though he isn't working. If he does get a job it'll be already filed and ready. Plus some judges will still order support based on minimum wage and/or order him to find a job.

Yea, that's what I was thinking too. He has his own issues to deal with and rather than tackle them head on, he seems to want to "start over" with someone else, thinking THAT is the solution.

It's been hard for me because I truly did love him. He broke my heart.
