Hi everyone,
My name is Melissa. I am 21 and the single mother of 2. I have a girl, 6, and a boy, 4 months. I am writing a paper for college over being a single parent. I would like to get the answers to some questions. I would appreciate any help you could give me.

1. How many children do you have?

2. What is the biggest challenge about being a single mom?

3. What is the biggest joy about being a single mom?

4. What advice would you give to someone who is about to become a single mom?

Any help you could give me would be great. Thank you for your time.
Melissa

Hi Melissa, My name is Star. I'm 30 with an 11 year old son. I just started on here today. The biggest joy about being a single mom is that the child has a special relationship with you. There is a special bond that I don't think is there with the non-single parents. It's like my son and I depend on each other cause we're all there is. But it's a catch 22. That's also the down-side. The other parent isn't there to share in the special things that happen. And unfortunately, as in my case, his father is fighting me in court now after being totally absent from his life for many years. I'd tell someone who's about to be a single-parent, "Hang in there! It is tough. But stay strong and just love that child!" Wink

I have 2 girls
2. What is the biggest challenge about being a single mom?

Not knowing if I am making the right decisions/ being a parent vs. being their friend

3. What is the biggest joy about being a single mom?

The pride and learning how to love; unconditionally

4. What advice would you give to someone who is about to become a single mom?

Pray, talk to smart women, talk to succesful women, get your community involved. extended families help as well.
You can do it....but more importantly, you must do it.

Good luck

1. How many children do you have?

A son (10) a daughter (7) and 22 weeks pregnant with a little girl

2. What is the biggest challenge about being a single mom?

When I was married, the kids were well provided for financially. Now it's difficult because money is tight.

3. What is the biggest joy about being a single mom?

Knowing that they love me to death - and they want nothing more than to spend time with me.

4. What advice would you give to someone who is about to become a single mom?

Pray, support and have as much fun as you can fit in. There are little lives depending on you - you have no choice but to succeed.

Any help you could give me would be great. Thank you for your time.
