Blossomnae,
I too had deepening financial issues after my divorce. My ex said he wanted the house. I could not make him leave so I did. When we finally made it to our final hearing he said he did not want it. He had not paid the mortgage in 3 months and I had signed a 1 year lease on a house. The house was already in foreclosure and he was filing bankruptcy before I knew anything!
I fought filing bankruptcy for a year. I tried everything. My once great credit was ruined because the answer to my ex's financial problems was to borrow more money.
I finally did file. I hate it because I think.... I created these bills I should pay them .... but I have to feed my daughter, and keep a roof over her head. I too make way too much money for any assistance but never enough for what it really takes.
I do have much more peace of mind and no more phone call from creditors I have to avoid.
Before I did this I did ask a friend that is a financial officer. She said in my situation to file bankruptcy, not to use a credit counselor. I would be better off in the long run.
I do not think this is an act that should be used by everyone. Nor do I feel I could ever do it again. I think that it is just wrong for someone to file over and over.
Good luck... I feel for you ... I know how it is!
Carla
