hello out there, i'm a single mom with a beautifull 5yr old baby boy. i was devorced about 1yr ago and just have not been able to really get back on my feet. i have already had to file bankruptcy, and still in financial problems. i commend all of you out there for being on your own. it is sooooo hard. i'm trying to get back into school to get a ba degree in criminal justice, and i'm having such a hard time trying to figure out how to get grants to help pay for my college. i decided to go to university of phoenix on-line because i too have no family support. it's diffently hard. any help would be greatly appriciated!!!

Congrats on going back to school. I am also attending the University of Pheonix. I just finished my second class. However I am going into class rather than on line. The online classes cost more and I really need the classroom. As for the financial aid, talk to the counselor at the nearest campus. Mine was a wealth of info. Fill out your FAFSA form online and get that going. I got much more than I thought. Both loans and grant money. The remainder I am making small payments. Also .. go to www.fastweb.*** and search for scholarships. Someone else on the site mentioned two big books in the library. My daughter is 11 years old and she helps me with my homework... lol.

THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT. I ACTUALLY DID GET ON FAST WEB I AM WORKING ON FING GRANTS, I TOLD UNIVERSITY OF PHEONIX THAT I DON'T EVEN HAVE THE MONEY FOR THE FIRST CLASS, THEY SAID I WOULD GET FINANFICAL AID. BUT I REALLY WANT TO TRY TO GET AS MUCH GRANT MONEY AS POSSIBLE SO THE LESS I HAVE TO PAY BACK THE BETTER. I'M JUST NOT SURE HOW TO START GOING ABOUT GET THE GRANTS.

The grants are given out based on the same form you fill out for loans. FAFSA forms ... online ... based on your current situation and your most recent tax forms. It is the scholarships you have to look for.

Thanks so much for your vote of confidence. I had a great day today! After a week or two of complete melt down.
I went back into court today with my ex and all worked out wonderful for my daughter and I. Then tonight I get to school and recieve my grades and my final paper for the last class. I GOT AN A!!!!! My new class started tonight .. while this one is going to be more difficult, the instructor is wonderful!
