Thanks for the networking tool! I am a 34 yr old single mom with a 6 yr old and 3 month old infant :baby: . I married and divorced the same man (father of the kids) twice. I think I finally got the lesson this time. Irresponsible + Emotionally detached + Selfish does not equal a good mate ....My divorce will be final in 2 weeks and I have been separated for about a year now. My soon to be ex behaved exactly the same way he did the first time we were married..cheated..split when I got pregnant and found another outlet-other women and working as far away from us as possible. My 6 yr old daughter sees the pattern and said "Mom it's time to move on and get someone else...Dad just doesn't get it" The first time I divorced I self reflected for 2 years-no dating...nothing just work and being a mommy. This time I am not sitting around that long....has anyone tried e-harmony?
Also, I am probably the worst one to talk about good therapy for kids seeing as I have really put my oldest through my giving her dad another chance but the best therapy I have found for her ...tried counseling ...is activities. Sports, Dance, Girl Scouts...all of it is great for the children. It is good for us too because it helps us refocus on what is really important the children. The only tough part is being around many couples that are raising their kids together but the positive connection with your child and the instant self esteem they get is priceless.
I am dreading the child support ordeal again...I already have a huge back child support order in effect (a clue that the second time was not going to better than the first) but I am really dreading the process again. It takes the system so long to enforce the wage garnishment orders and in my situation a real pain because the father is self employed 90% of the time. I am really blessed to have a good job but I wish the system worked more efficiently...so any good tips especially for interstate collections would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to meeting and encouraging other single parents! Thanks to all of the fathers who are "men" that do what they should for their children. All the moms out there who are "holding down both roles" keep your head up! What we do today creates a better tomorrow and we are our children's greatest role model. Being a parent will leave your greatest legacy!

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll get an ounce of good news from anyone regarding child support collections. Some states have great laws in place, but seem to not really enforce them.

I am sorry I have no advice about the interstate child support collections. Income deducted CS was about the only thing that went smoothly for my daughter and I.
