I am New to SFV
Posted
Hello to all. I go here occasionally and never write anything. So, I just wanted to start out by saying good job if you have been a single parent for awhile, and hang in there if you haven't. I am going on my seventh month with three on my own. Twin four year olds and a seven year old. Seems like a typical story. Their mom left us and has her new boyfriend and all that. Slightly different in that she is mentally unstable. Not just odd behavior but clinically diagnosed. We still have a good relationship over the phone and I will be filing for divorce within the next month ($). It is difficult at times. I do not live around family now, but plan on it in the near future. So, we are out here on our own little island so to speak. Of course at first it was difficult and really hasn't been all that much easier lately. I have noticed that it's like waves. Some days the isolation and feelings of being alone are overwhelming. Then other times it's not too bad. However I have grown tired of sympathetic looks and the ever so popular "you've got your hands full" comment that I hear all the time. Aside from the children one positive that has come out of all this is my new abilities. I can cook, clean, and do laundry like nobodies buisness. I would have to say that was a challenge. Not that I was a slob, but I am a guy and well, you know. At any rate, My keys to sanity lie in hobbies. New ones or old. They keep my focus on something other than how hoplessly alone I personally feel. I have started playing the guitar (my kids got it for me). Not too good yet but I'm working at it. The point is one can either pick up and move forward or lay down and give up. But having said that, it did take me a couple of months to get things together. So if your new to this hang in there. That's about it. I will try to post a little more there seems to be a bunch of good people here.

Welcome PRC! I see ya registered in October, but welcome! Glad to see you are working hard and have a positive outlook on things, that is such a hard thing to do, but it's best for the children. Thanks for sharing your story and I hope to see more of you around here!

Welcome

Hey PRC,

What was she diagnosed with? Bi-polar? BPD? NPD?

Those seem to be most common... mine was BPD. She almost reached clinical levels on her lying scale of the psychological evaluation.

Best of luck to you. Keep posting.

Ryan
