i hope i'm doing this right. well hello everyone out there. i found this site and am in need of help. i moved to california earlier this year with my children and are struggling tremendously. we need to get situated and find a place to live, unfortunatley we cannot afford rent on a single income with all other expenses to consider. i asked about section 8 and was told it is a very loooooooooong wait. i am wondering if anyone out there knows of any outreaches or resources in the southbay area. i've heard about a program that pairs up single parents with same likes-that way rent is more affordable and you wipe out babysitting/daycare cost-does anyone know of it or heard of it? please respond with any help, advice, or information on anything and everything. so completely overwhelmed Eeker thank you for support! Eeker I am not sure how the laws work in CA but I use to work for the state here in AR and one way to get housing quickly is to stay in a shelter for about 2 days and they will move you all the way at the top of the list and you will get section 8. then you can get a very nice house. Now on section 8 you can buy a home. And the money that section 8 pays will go towards the home. Razzer this is only a way to get back on your feet. And it is a very good program for single parents and people trying to get started. Red Face One thing you should do is call the local department of human services and they can coach you on what to do. Sorry, I could not be of more help...
