I am New to SFV |
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this site. I am hoping to get an suggestions on how to explain to my now 7yr old why? when he visits with his father he doesn't take him to baseball practice or to his games. Why, doesn't his father buy him toys while his little brother has a room full. Those are just a few of the situations my son is now experiencing while with his dad. My first reaction internally is anger and pain. But, how do I explain to my son that he is loved and truly wanted? |

"Who me......?" At A loss for Words - NOT! |
T's mom,
I would suggest you tell him to ask his father himself. Only he can answer that question. If you try to answer it, he may come back and say you're causing trouble or even "lying". Just make your home a place where he is comfortable and feels loved. I would speak to his father privately and tell him his son had asked these questions. You don't need to hear an answer from him, but try encouraging him to talk to your son and explain to him what you think he may be feeling. Sometimes, I find my children asking me the same "why" questions and I tell them to ask their father. Most times they will not, though I refuse to answer the question for my EX. Keep in mind that different households will run differently. I think it is a blessing when the children of blended families do not feel like a stranger in their parent's home. |
