stubborn It never, ever, EVER fails....

I get the parenting "complete" for the night: she is in her bed, asleep. Everything I have been unable to do until then sits before me....and WHAM!! I am instantaneously a Bear of Very Little Brain. and I STILL can't do it.

I have used up all of my energy and cognitive function and the night is a wash. Regardless of how important the project--schoolwork, laundry when I am out of clean everything, damn it, I'm tapped! There is no more pushing through it.

I sleep and resent it in the morning. Intellectually, I totally get it. They wear us out. I still hate that important stuff always gets dropped from the priorities list.

Yet hope stupidly springs eternal. Will I ever get over this?

Oh man, I can SO relate to this. In my case, it's usually when I get a day I can get out of the house (other than for regular work). All of a sudden I become completely unable to remember and organize the endless list of stuff I have been making ,myself sick over NOT being able to do for weeks. Forget about remembering what I need from the grocery store. I have to make lists for EVERYTHING I do.

i totally hear you on this front. sometimes i'm barely able to just plop myself into bed after the whirlwind! and you know, that's just how it is sometimes. no sense beating yourself up for it.

little by little, baby step by baby step, things do change. and even though we wake up before the crack of dawn to get ready for the day aGAIN, i've noticed small things that make it easier--i.e. DD2 doesn't wear a diaper to bed anymore, hasn't for a long time, and as a matter of fact DD2 hasn't had any 'accidents' in a long time (knock on wood, please don't let me have jinxed myself tonight). so just that extra effort saved is now re-routed to something else...

anyway, i just wanted to give you support in that you're not alone and i get exhaustion. sometimes i call myself a MOMBIE (mom + zombie), it's amazing that i lurch through the day. !!

Hang in there, It will get easier in someways...then new challenges will pop up, and you will adjust.
The only way to eat an elephant is one bit at a time, we just cannot eat it all in one sitting.

Muskie once told about rowing a boat across a lake with his boys on board. His oldest was in the bow looking forward. After a while Oldest said they where just not going forward. Muskie told him to take a look behind. Oldest was surprised how far they had gone. Some times it just seems we are not making headway, then we look back at where we started and realize we have come a long way.
We don't want to keep looking to the past all the time because we'd never move forward, just a quick look to see where we came from.
