NRAEF Scholarship Program

The National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF) is the leading scholarship provider for the restaurant and food service industry. Our goal is to award scholarships to motivated individuals who are committed to furthering their education and succeeding in the restaurant and food service industry. And this investment is paying off! A recent NRAEF five-year impact study revealed that 81 percent of NRAEF Scholarship recipients are still studying or working in the industry.

Funded through generous donations from the restaurant and food service industry, the NRAEF has awarded more than $11 million dollars in merit-based scholarships to students and educators since 1987.

Student scholarships start at $2,500 and educators receive $1,750 scholarships.
The NRAEF understands the importance of scholarships and supporting students and educators. We offer a variety of merit-based scholarships to students who want an education and a career in the food service industry as well as professional development scholarships for restaurant and food service educators.

Scholarships for undergraduate students

You may be eligible for these scholarships if you are a current or returning undergraduate student.

GRI/Giacomo Bologna Scholarship
The NRAEF and Gruppo Ristoratori Italiani (GRI) will award up to 6 students with an all-expense-paid trip from New York City to Italy.

The scholarship enables students to travel to Italy for a week and participate in various culinary and restaurant industry related classes and tours. During this program, students will be offered a first-hand experience in Italian winemaking and cooking. Each year, GRI organizes a unique experience for the students that highlights a region in Italy.
GRI is a not-for-profit association dedicated to promoting knowledge of authentic Italian food and wine through education.

Al Schuman Ecolab Undergraduate Entrepreneurial Scholarship

This was established to award scholarships to current qualified undergraduate students who are committed to their education and careers in the restaurant and foodservice industry while demonstrating a strong entrepreneurial spirit. This scholarship is for students who attend a select list of schools. Please read the application instructions to see if your school is on the list.

Undergraduate Students/ProStart Alumni/Manage First Students

This scholarship is for current undergraduate students enrolled in a foodservice-related program.

Scholarships for educators

Professional Development Scholarships for Educators
