So in case someone hasn't read the previous thread about this friend of mine . . . here's a short recap. Been friends with the guy for 8 years. We were both finally single and started to hang out again. So a few months goes by, he asks me on a date, we go out, have fun, he says he wants to do it again so we go out "as friends" we both say. Then I ask him if he wanted to date or why he hadn't asked me out on more dates as more than friends. This is what he says (1) he doesn't want to ruin the friendship that we have; (2) we live too far apart - 1 hour; and (3) we are both too busy right now. So, that's fine. We are friends and have been for a long while. He said he would like to but the distance thing causes a problem for him.

Well, I go to post a comment on his myspace page and see . . . he's now in a relationship!?!? This would explain why he isn't returning my calls and why he ditched me this past weekend. Oh and get this: she lives 2 hours from him. WTF?!?!?! That was his main reason for not wanting to date.

I just dont get it. Obviously there is something wrong with me. Right now I just want to scream. We made plans to get together on Saturday for lunch and I'm cancelling them. He is obviously avoiding my phone calls, although leaves me messages online. I plan on asking him what's up with that but I'm just so irratated about this.

I will admit, I am feeling a little hurt. Am I overreacting? Should I blow him off on Saturday? I dont know what to think. I dont know why he couldn't call and tell me at least that he met someone. I mean, we're friends for crying out loud. I just know now for sure that the reasons he explained to me why we weren't going to date right now, he kept saying "i didn't say no, I said not right now," were all lies!!!!

Ya know, I am with ya on this one...that stupid "just friends" phrase. Sometimes I think men use it as an excuse. I would feel exactly as you do. It would make me mad too. Hang in there....cause you are a special person! Hang in there.

Being friends is fine. But when you tell someone that you like them that way but then say that you want to wait for a while until we both have things in order . . . that's a crock! I knew it. I'm not dumb! I dont have much respect for people who lie to me.

I guess this is just one of those things I will never understand. I will get over it. Just makes me wonder I guess. Paul says it's because he's blonde and some other things as we have discussed this at length previously.

Thanks Bishop ... airfare would be pricey though. :P

Being friends with anyone is hard, male or female....I, personally am finding that I have a hard time distinguishing btwn the two. When I want more, the other person doesn't and vice versa....it takes two to have chemistry and frankly, I am getting too old and stupid to figure it all out. I want a book that tells me the rules of having a male friend...anyone start a list at any time - many of us probably need the help.

Okay, having "a friend" that even lives across country does not make it easy. I agree with hot part....

I never said anything about second best. You are equally best to him . . . although I know what he sounds like on the phone (among other things I've seen and heard) and let me tell yah . . . he has a voice that could push anyone over the edge. hehe

Maybe we should start writing our own soap-opera...The Days of Our Online lives....I am sure someone can come up with a better title, but we have great material here.

Okay, so this is the first time I have read this thread! .

Soap Opera names huh???

Net Naughties (Oh, wait...wrong genre)

Net Dreams (still wrong)

I'll have to think on this one....

By the way, I guess I would let Angelina Joliet play me. We would have to discuss her using some lip gloss or something though. Woman has cronic dry lip going on. Thanks. .
