Single parenting is a challenging yet rewarding job..and I love every minute of it. Do I have ups and downs? Most certainly I do. Do I ever feel lonely, hurt or sometimes concerned? Yes of course I do...I wouldn't be human if I didn't. But overall, I have learned to enjoy it because I AM ok, my son IS ok, and life IS ok and so are you. In the end everything works out. I am curious how many positive thoughts or feelings you can come up with being a single mom or a single dad. Anyone up for the challenge? Mine are: I learned how to create my fun, my free time. My son learned how to adjust with change proactively be accepting and resolving life obstacles as they come, thus becoming excited to always find solutions to every problem...I learned my strength and weakeness and get to chose which weakness I want to work on next with no one's criticims...I learned how to find "ME" time with my son around which has been very interesting. Basically I learned that if it isn't fun doing something I just don't do it.

i agree with u 110%. In my case im loving everything about single parenting thats why im here. I understand wat you saying a job for two people done by one person can be stressful, we all human we need all the support we can get, but once you have the support of friends and family you can do just fine. i guess it can get lonely out there but i thing is to also keep yourself busy i mean it works for me!! It also has brought out the best in me a side of me i never knew about, Im mean im a strong person in character i guess and never did i imagine being a mum!!! she is the best thing that has happened to me and i can't believe it she'll be turning 5yrs next month i guess time flew so fast can't wait for her to be a teenager!!

Yes, and those teenage years will come faster than you think. Time flies so fast. My son is 15 now, I can't believe where we have been and are now....it is a great journey and an important one indeed.

I myself am just STARTING to enjoy being a single parent or at least being comfortable with it. I went from sort of haveing everything taken care of to total and complete only me and the kids. No family, no financial help, no anything. For the first year I absolutely freaked out about how to just make us survive but things have changed a lot lately. I find myself relaxing a bit and really enjoying my kids. We have started saturday night slumber parties where I make popcorn and we all get our sleeping bags out and watch movies in the playroom. I just really enjoy my kids and the time I spend with them. I feel like I connect much better when before maybe I was distracted with makeing life perfect in appearance but now its just different and Im starting to actually like it

Hi Everyone,

Well I am new and recently separated from my husband of 16 years have two boys ages 12 and 7. Hmmm being a single parent.. well I have been taking care of the boys mostly in the marriage because my husband's shift work schedule but we are about to go through a divorce which he is wanting going through a midlife crisis and decided he does not want to be married anymore. I have been thinking very positive about the whole situation. I can have fun as well being a single parent and have no controlling husband yelling at you. So I am looking forward to the peace and quiet, hmm the time off when he has to watch the boys and also everyone will be happy again
